The Maple Leaf Forever
CLARA is going to be doing a quilt for our convention, the theme is the maple leaf (ves). You do not need to be a member of CLARA to submit a square.
I have put some links and pictures for you on this page, and whether you are a beginner, or experienced quilter, please feel free to do up a 12 in square, and to the girls living in the USA, and Europe, please send your finished square to Margaret Hardwick AE7MB, as she has volunteered to put it together for us. Margaret's address is at the bottom of the page. The unfinished square is to be 12.5 inches.
The Canadian girls may send their squares to me and I will send them all on to Margaret. We are asking that all girls put their first name and call-sign on their blocks with a permanent marker…if you don’t have the right marker, just pin your name and call-sign on a piece of paper and Margaret will do it for you.
There is no limit on the number of squares that can be sent in, so it will either be a very large quilt, or maybe a couple of smaller quilts, whatever works.
If you don’t know how to quilt, maybe you can find a friend who does, and ask them ever so sweetly if they would do a square for you, that’s what I have to do. Anyways, we are looking forward to all the squares that do come in.
It does not need to be a red maple leaf on white background, it could be a white maple leaf on a red background. And the red’s don’t have to be all plain, they could be polka-dots, or whatever scraps of red that you have laying around.
On a final note, All Squares must be to Margaret by April 1, 2017, as that gives her enough time to put it together. So that means that the girls who are sending the squares to me should be here no later than March 15, 2017.
Thank you girls, and really hope to see some of you in Winnipeg, Manitoba July 17-22, 2017.
Here are some links that give instructions for some of the squares pictured below. Please click on the red lettering to get to the links.

As you can see, these are just a few maple leaves that you can quilt. Please don't be shy. Also remember to put your first name and call-sign on your unfinished 12.5 inch block. if unsure of the type of permanent marker to use, just pin your name and call-sign on a piece of paper, and send to me and Margaret will put it on for you.
We will include one free ticket for the quilt draw with each registered YL and then give you the option of buying more tickets at -- 1 for $2.00 or 3 for $5.00. The Quilt tickets will be offered to all YL's even if not going to the convention. A form will be included (shortly) which you can print out and send with your cheque for tickets and Heather will then send you a confirmation and ticket numbers by email and only send tickets if you have no email address
There are probably lots more different leaves, so use whatever pattern you like. Thank you.
